Think you know rock trivia? I did too until I took Rolling Stone's Almost-Impossible Rock Quiz - they're not joking with that title. I managed to score a 37, and that was with a lot of guessing too. Leave your score in the comments, and no cheating!
Thanks to Hidden Track for pointing out the link.

Eric + Steve = 3 Nights MSG
Big news classic rock fans circle February 25th, 26th and 28th (and most likely the 27th too) on your calendars you're going to want to be at the World's Most Famous Arena as Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood will grace the stage together for a three night run. I know it's Monday and you might still be shaking off your weekend hangover, but yeah you read that right. Other then Led Zeppelin I'd venture to guess that Blind Faith has been on the tops of people's lists for a reunion show. Read about it here.
No news on if Ginger Baker will be apart, but let's keep are fingers crossed.
Tickets go on-sale for AMEX holders starting next Monday at 9 AM, via Ticketmaster and if tickets remain the general on-sale will be the following Monday. So crack open those piggy banks now, this isn't going to be a cheap one.
Here's the duo with Can't Find My Way Home from this past summer.

Word Up
As friend alerted me to this fantastic news....
Longtime friends and collaborators Chris Chew, Cody Dickinson, Luther Dickinson (of North Mississippi Allstars), John Medeski, and Robert Randolph will be reuniting as "The Word" for four very special concerts this December. A limited number of pre-sale tickets go on sale this Saturday, November 3, at 10am EST. Visit the pre-sale site by clicking HERE
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 9. For information visit www.thewordtour.com
Dec 26 Hartford, CT - Webster Theatre
Dec 27 New York, NY - Terminal 5
Dec 28 Philadelphia, PA - Electric Factory
Dec 29 Washington, DC - 9:30 Club
I caught them back in '01 at the then Irving Plaza and still rate that show among the best concerts I've seen over the last ten years - so you know I'll be at Terminal 5 on December 27th.
Here's a show off that same tour for your listening pleasure (via bt.etree)....
The Word - 2001-08-01 - Grassroots Festival, Oregon Ridge Park - Cockeysville, MD
And here's their appearance on Conan from the night before the aforementioned Irving show...

Trix Are For Kids
I think we all sort of miss a certain Vermont band around this time of year. For four years they took Halloween to a whole new level by covering albums in their entirety - which upped the ante for all bands since. While lots of bands have offered themed shows and tons of covers none have honored the great tradition they started like this....
On Saturday, the Breakfast hosted their 9th Annual Fongoulish Freakout at Higher Ground in Burlington, VT. During the shows leading up to this gig, the band had performed two of its own releases in their entirety, starting with 2003's Bona Fide at Toad's Place on Thursday and then 2006's Moxie Epoxy on Friday. At Higher Ground, however, the band tipped its cap to the environs and offered up a version of Phish's Lawn Boy, which spanned two sets. (via Jambands.com)
I feel a little weird about the whole Phish tribute band thing, but since this is a one-time deal I'll sit back listen and enjoy....

Pimp My Review
I had planned on trying to get a review up of the Umphrey's McGee show that I caught a couple of weekends ago at the Nokia Theater - the band was absolutely on fire that night, but since I don't know a Mulche's Odyssey from The Triple Wide I couldn't do it as much justice as Scotty B's excellent write up of the evenings festivities over at Hidden Track - read it here.
And definitely grab this show, I was throughly impressed with their performance....

Is That Dreidel Rock? Turn It Up
It's currently 76 degrees outside in late October, so kind of hard to look towards December and more specifically to Hanukkah - but there a number of great shows going on to celebrate the Festival Of Lights that you don't want to get shut out on. Here's what's going on....
Yo La Tengo will return to Maxwell's (after taking last year off) for an eight night stand at their hometown haunt from December 4th - 11th. Tickets for all shows go on-sale this Wednesday at noon via TicketWeb, no openers have been announced yet. More info here.
Next up Matisyahu offers up his second annual Festival Of Light Celebration, happening December 4th and 5th at Roseland Ballroom - Blues Traveler and The Wailers will open respectively. Tickets are on-sale now.
And finally from the folks at J-Dub Records and Taglit have teamed up for the multi-city concert event called The 8 - with events is New York, L.A., Boston, Seattle and Washington D.C. (and several internationl cities) - featuring the likes of The LeeVees, Apollo Sunshine, Hadag Nachash, and many more - on December 8th. Tickets go on-sale on October 26th, for more info head here.

Music Video Mondays
Neil Young takes a lot of pride in sticking it to the man and pointing out hypocrisies - and we love him for it. Case in point this fantastically tongue-in cheek skewering of the commercialism of rock, here's Neil with "This Note's For You"....
Quick fun fact this video won the 1989 VMA for Video Of The Year. Neil's new album Chrome Dreams hits stores tomorrow.

Uncensored Interview
Just want to point you in the direction of the relatively brand new music site called Uncensored Interview. Since they can do a better job then me in describing what they're all about here it is straight from their mouthes....
UncensoredInterview.com is an online video site for indie music artists and fans to be seen and heard in their truest form - uncensored and real. Kind of like the opposite of MTV. We showcase interviews with indie bands of all genres, picking their brains on everything from politics to dating a fan, and we do it all in the comfort of their most natural habitats, be that a music studio, apartment or favorite bar. Not only will fans get to hear what their beloved up and coming indie artists have to say, they'll get to talk back. UI's band videos and video responses(V-sponses) are the ultimate interactive platform for artists and fans to speak out and to each other. Completely uncensored, of course.
Definitely a great way to interact with your favorite band. So folks go and poke around and see what they're all about, right now they've got a bunch of CMJ coverage - head here.

Listening Party - I'm Not There Soundtrack
Ok I promise I'll limit my postings about all things Dylan, but wanted to point you in the direction of the MySpace page for the I'm Not There soundtrack where you can give a listen to four selections from the album - Jeff Tweedy, Cat Power, Jim James and Sufjan Stevens takes on Simple Twist Of Fate, Stuck Inside of Moblie With The Memphis Blues Again, Goin' To Acapulco and Ring Them Bells respectively - head here.
I'm digging what I'm hearing so far especially the Jim James track, leave some thoughts in the comments section.
For more drooling about the movie check out the New York Times Magazine article from a couple of Sundays ago, it's a great read - check it out here. And for additional coverage on the soundtrack head over The Playlist - here.

Just a quick post if you've never heard the Phish Bridge School Benefit shows they are up for grabs over at bt.etree and I highly recommend grabbing them. For those of you that don't know artists are required to play acoustic sets, which is something Phish rarely did - or at least not for more then a few songs at a time. This is some of the most interesting music you'll hear them play, check it out.....

In other Phish news their latest archive release Vegas '96 is currently up for pre-order. Here's some info on it.....
In December 6, 1996, Phish played their debut gig in Las Vegas at the Aladdin Theatre. It was the final show of a 35-date fall tour that stretched across the country, and it was the first in what became a loose tradition of off-the-wall, humorous and irreverent Vegas appearances. This new 3-CD set (available in both Limited and Standard Edition versions) will be released in stores on November 20th, 2007 by JEMP Records and available for download at LivePhish.com.
Vegas 96 is available for PRE-ORDER NOW at Phish Dry Goods. Everyone who pre-orders from Dry Goods will receive "Road To Vegas," an exclusive bonus CD of highlights from Phish's Fall 1996 Tour. Featuring more than three hours of music, Vegas 96 captures the spirit of a band at the peak of its powers pulling out all the stops.
In addition to the three-disc Standard Edition containing the entire concert, a Special Limited Edition Vegas 96 Box Set includes a bonus DVD of archival footage from the show and an extensive 40-page bound photo book in deluxe packaging. The extended "Harpua" encore included on the bonus DVD features a host of special guests onstage including Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde of Primus, multi-instrumentalist John McEuen, yodelers and four Elvis impersonators in a legendary display of Vegas-style sensory overload.
Click here to PRE-ORDER PHISH VEGAS 96 from Phish Dry Goods. We also have a handful of new Vegas goodies at Dry Goods to commemorate this release including T-Shirts, Phish playing cards and dice.
Order here.
